Fast ADSL Internet Connections
BROADBAND is fast unmetered Internet access. It's available from various ISPs, each with different prices and conditions. It's important to be careful when choosing a broadband connection, as some of the packages that immediately seem a good idea have hidden snags. So, it's best to shop around and to know what you're doing when choosing.
In particular, I have heard about people jumping at the first offer they see because it offered "free modem", and they ended up buying a frog!
Incidentally, the "frog" was a BT giveaway modem which in the early days had the problem that it wasn't compatible with advances in operating systems such as Linux and the technical spec was kept secret. However, Linux experts soon figured out how to make the Frog usable with Linux, so all that secrecy was to no avail and it would have been nicer if it had been open source to start with.
Meanwhile, V21 is an Internet Service Provider who
actively encourage Linux, and have a large amount of technical
info available for you to see online.

If your current broadband supplier is foisting adverts on you, I recommend you to switch to one of the providers on this page, which as far as I can tell, are free of such problems!
